Episode Summary:

The secret recipe for Mr. Crab’s crabby patty is kept by Spongebob. Spongebob has been given strict instructions to NEVER tell anyone the recipe. Plankton, the evil owner of rival eatery the Chum Bucket, whose only goal in life is to steal the Krabby Patty recipe from Mr. Krabs, has taken it upon himself to get that recipe by tricking Spongebob.

Plankton goes to great lengths to create a metal robot of Mr. Krabs, complete with an abort button that turned the entire robot into a toaster! After getting spongebob by himself, plankton [dressed as mr. krab] convinced spongebob that he was, in fact, the real Mr. Krab – even to the point that when the real Mr. Krab came back, spongebob wouldn’t [or couldn’t] tell the difference, and ended up dismissing the real Mr. Krab. His lack of discernment put the krabby patty recipe in danger, and when spongebob realized his mistake, there was some guilt and need for forgiveness.

DISCUSSION/APPLICATION

In this episode, Plankton dresses up in a costume to trick Spongebob into believing that he is actually Mr. Krab. He wants Spongebob to believe his lies as truth.

In our lives, Satan is trying to do the same thing to us, and in this day and age, it’s even harder for us to tell truth from fiction. Some people don’t even believe there is such a thing as truth. What do you think --

How can satan try to distract us from that truth?

Spongebob tried to be true to his promise to never share the secret formula – he protected the truth. How can we protect the truth of the gospel?

Spongebob ended up getting the real Mr. Krab confused with the imposter Krab, even after asking some questions.

Sometimes Satan can appear very convincing. What can we do so that we can more readily recognize God’s truth?

Satan never gives up. He’ll go to any length to try to get us to give up the truth of Christ.

That’s why God gives us the gift of discernment. Discernment is keenness of insight and good judgment. Having good judgment is important in all areas of our lives. Spongebob didn’t use good discernment.

The real mr. krab tried desperately to make spongebob recognize truth. Having good judgment is important in all areas of our lives. What are some areas we need to have good judgement in?

We need to use good judgement and ask the Lord to help us recognize truth.
